CLIFF IS VIRTUAL AGAIN FOR 2021

For immediate release
11 October, 2021

Toronto, ON – After a hugely successful virtual Canadian Labour International Film Festival (CLIFF) last year that saw the festival go global, CLiFF will again be streamed this November. CLiFF’s entire 2021 line-up is accessible online.

This year’s festival has 16 short films (see a full list with descriptions) that will surely captivate film enthusiasts. A thoughtful selection of documentaries, comedies, and dramas will grace home screens. Location Coordinators across Canada will have the option of organizing local events that meet public health requirements.

CLiFF screenings start in November, which is Labour Film Month. “We’re very excited about our second year streaming the festival’s offerings, especially now that almost two years of the pandemic has resulted in a growing need to stay connected to each other and our communities,” said Abbas Syed, CLIFF Board Member.

Location Coordinators continue to be the backbone of CLIFF. The new streaming platform allows Location Coordinators to set up events regionally, selecting the date and time they want. “We’re thrilled that Location Coordinators have embraced our online platform because they are the ones that make CLiFF come alive every year so we’re grateful for their support and involvement,” said Jennifer Chieh Ho, CLIFF Board Member.

CLIFF is the only national film festival in Canada that is focused on the world of work, paid and unpaid. The festival is run by volunteers and is free thanks to the generosity of unions who continue to donate every year. With almost 200 films screened in more than 180 locations across Canada, CLIFF’s aim is to tell the stories of workers profiling the voices of those who seek justice on the job and dignity in their workplace.
