Ontario Nurses’ Association Welcomes New Members: Registered Nurses from the Ontario Finnish Resthome Association Vote to Join Union

September 28, 2021

SAULT STE. MARIE, ON., September 28, 2021 – The Ontario Nurses’ Association (ONA) is delighted that registered nurses (RNs) working to provide care to residents at the Ontario Finnish Resthome Association home for the aged have voted to join the union.

“ONA is honoured that these dedicated and highly educated registered nurses have chosen us to represent them,” says ONA President Vicki McKenna, RN. “As patient advocates, they have  concerns about professional practice and workload challenges, and care deeply about their residents’ quality of life and quality of care. They voted overwhelmingly to join ONA, and we will do all we can to ensure they can provide the best care possible.”

McKenna says that ONA offers a wide range of services to its members, including education, labour relations expertise, professional practice support, legal and other support. It is Canada’s largest nurses’ union.

ONA is the union representing more than 68,000 registered nurses and health-care professionals, as well as 18,000 nursing student affiliates, providing care in hospitals, long-term care, public health, the community, clinics, and industry.

For more information about joining ONA, please email: organizer@ona.org or call: 1 800 387-5580 and ask to speak with an Organizer.  All conversations will be kept confidential.
